The NSWRL Under 16 and Under 18 competitions Round 8 results are below. With next weekend being the last round of the Competition today results will have a bearing of the top 12 positions in the NSW component of the National Junior Final Series. During the Final Series teams from Queensland will participate for the first time.

The Sydney Roosters and Newtown Jets junior representative teams were both trumped last night in their second trial of the year.

The Roosters Harold Matthews side went down to a strong Canterbury Bulldogs outfit 28-8 in a seven tries to two result.

The Newtown Jets could not follow up last their last start win, also falling to the Bulldogs 36-16 in a nine tries to four display.

The Newcastle Knights have booked early favouritism for a double win in the junior reps this season by beating Parramatta in both Harold Matthews and SG Ball trials today.

In heatwave conditions at Ringrose Park Wentworthville the players tore into the action and both games were very competitive and close throughout the respective games.

This Saturday 24th January Parramatta Eels will play Newcastle Knights in the U15's, Harold Matthews and S.G Ball.

This will be the Parramatta Eels first trial for 2009.

Newtown and North Sydney set the 2009 Rugby League season in motion when they played an SG Ball Cup trial match at the TG Millner Field on Saturday evening. The Jets have taken the place of the Sydney Roosters in the NSWRL’s SG Ball Cup Under 18’s competition for 2009, while the Roosters will continue to field a team in the Under 16’s Harold Matthews Shield.
